This week was especially awesome! It was awesome because I had the chance to test shipping cake pops and it was a shipment at the request of the creators of the Robot Chicken TV Show! They contacted me to order some Robot Chicken cake pops to give them a try. Midtown Sweets doesn’t currently ship but it was a great opportunity to see what it takes since they were ordered as a Just Because.

Mr Senreich was kind enough to send a few pictures of one of the RC Cake Pops checking out the Studio. 🙂

Holy Freezoli! Midtown Sweets was featured in the March 2013 issue of Georgia Magazine. It is so exciting to actually see my Bee Cake Pops in print! I’m grinning from ear to ear. Thank You so much to Jennifer Hewitt & Georgia Magazine for interviewing me about my tiny corner of the Cake Pop baking world. And I am very Thankful to Angie Dudley (Bakerella) for giving so many bakers the inspiration and education to create a world of Pops. Awesomeness to the 5th Power! 🙂

Last weekend I had the opportunity to take a 2-Day Photography Workshop with Jessica Ashley of Peachtree Photography. The class focused on understanding some of the camera settings like shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and metering. I signed up for the class because I wanted to learn a little more about photography so that I could take better pictures of my family and my bakes.  By the end of the class, I learned SO much that I was no longer intimidated with the thought of shooting in Manul Mode & I could see an unbelievable difference in the quality of my pictures.

Before the class, I always used the Auto setting on my camera and the only change I would make is whether I turned the flash on or off. Since the class, I’ve only been using the manual setting and there is such a BIG difference.

If you’ve always wanted to learn more about your camera or take better pictures, I HIGHLY recommend this class. Not only is Jessica an amazing photographer but she is also an outstanding teacher with a sweet personality and an obvious passion for the Art of Photography.

Check out Peachtree Photography. You won’t be disappointed. 🙂

Thanks again to The Mahan Band for another sweet order.  These Twilight Cake Pops were created for Jenni M for her birthday.

They are Chocolate Cake Pops dipped in tinted candy melt and detailed with rolled fondant and sanding sugar.

With Halloween 2012 approaching, I decided to create another “Featured” Pop to celebrate the holiday. Last year, the Robot Chicken Cake Pop became fairly popular so I decided to pull another character idea out of the realm of Comic Con.

Midtown Sweets’ Halloween 2012 Featured Cake Pop is Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics. This pop was sculpted from chocolate cake and dipped in red candy melt. The goatee, hair, and eyes are colored candy melts. The cigar is made from marshmallow fondant.

Who doesn’t love surprises? Especially the sweet kind! For the last few months, I had been thinking about how fun it would be for Midtown Sweets to select a random person to surprise with a few Cake Pops or Cupcakes. Well, this past week, I finally decided to make it happen.  I posted a status update on the Midtown Sweets Facebook & Twitter Pages posted the following; “I think it may be time for a Cake Pop surprise Atlanta delivery… I wonder where it should go?” I picked the 1st person that suggested someone other than themselves (not that there’s anything wrong with wanting a little something sweet for yourself. ;-))

Lucky for Jamie, his lovely wife Katie nominated him for the Random Act of Sweetness. He was surprised at work with 2 Dozen Chocolate Halloween Themed Cake Pops. Yum! Lucky for Katie, Jamie promised to share. 🙂

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to sit down with Serina of HEART YOU GOOD bona fide bespokery. She and I had talked several times about creating G.I. Joe Themed Cake Pops. This idea was quite special because Serina & her hubby had celebrated their wedding with Destro & Baroness Action Figures on top of their cake. Creating these pops would be a “sweet” way to commemorate their upcoming anniversary and it would give her the opportunity to make cake pops for the first time.

Serina’s natural artistic talent flowed into the G.I. Joe Cake Pops. Being a first time Popper, she nailed it! From dipping to detail, there were no pop casualties for Destro, Baroness, or Cobra Commander. I must say, Midtown Sweets is definitely looking forward to creating with Serina again in the future.

After you check out the G.I. Joe Cake Pop pics, head over to HEART YOU GOOD and see all the amazing Print & Digital Designs created by Serina.
