Monkey Business
Themed Cake Pop creations can be lots of fun! These little Monkey Cake Pops were created for the 2nd birthday of Kaiya D. in Atlanta, GA. The pops were designed to match the birthday girl’s celebration theme. They are Chocolate Cake dipped in Cocoa Candy Melt.
Below is one of the casualties that occur during Cake Pop creation…. Poor little guy…

October 10, 2011at3:40 amThanks for visiting the site! I started with white candy melts and then blended in a few cocoa melts until I got the color I wanted. I know some use peanut butter melts but I only use those if the customer requests it. Good luck! 🙂

October 18, 2012at2:21 pmHi! This is totally a beautifull work of art and patience. I love that you have the time to respond all questions, that is so sweet, I was wondering how did you cut out the brown chocolate before you piped the lighter chocolate for the faces? Thanks!
Midtown Sweets
October 18, 2012at2:55 pmThe lighter chocolate is piped on top of the darker chocolate. The picture at the bottom just shows that cracking can happen if the pops are too cold when applying the lighter chocolate. This particular cracking just happened to go around the entire application of lighter chocolate. So it just looks like it was cut out.

December 3, 2012at12:57 amI love these cake pops, however can you tell me why the face fell off? I have an order in my fridge right now (because they are oreo (mixed with cream cheese) and before I put them back in the fridge after dcorating – the faces started to look like they are going to fall off. Can you please tell me how to fix them? Thank you!
Midtown Sweets
December 3, 2012at1:46 amI’ve only had problems with the face cracking off when I apply warm chocolate to a cold cake pop. The temperature difference causes the chocolate to crack along the edge of where the two meet. Allowing the pops to get close to room temp before piping the face has resolved the problem & allowing the piping chocolate to cool slightly before application.
I’m not quite sure what you could do to fix the faces that are currently cracking but have not fallen of yet. You may be able to apply a bit of melted chocolate to act as a “glue” for the faces that have completely separated.
Hope this helps & Good Luck.
